Mark and Cheryl Fulghum love Nags Head -        The laid-back ambiance, the friendliness, and of course, the seafood. So when they opened their restaurant four years ago it was only fitting that they honor their memories of Nags Head.

That’s where the name “Milepost 5” came from, says Joyce Luebbe, general manager.

Milepost 5 is about casual seafood dining at its, best.

The restaurant offers the freshest and best quality fish and shellfish they can find, and they offer it at prices that families can afford. And they’re seriously kid-friendly.  Children’s meals (featuring items like “chicken dinosaur nuggets” and crab legs) are served on Frisbees, which the kids take home with them.

Grown-ups enjoy Milepost 5’s signature dishes like hot crab dip. “We have customers who order the hot crab dip by the pound for take-out,” says Joyce. (Milepost 5 will be happy to pack up any item on the menu for your take-home

convenience.) Daily specials are based on fishing and weather conditions, which dictate what’s fresh at the market.

Friendly service is a hallmark at Milepost 5. lf you’re a regular, your server is likely to know your name. If you’re not a regular -yet! -  Milepost 5 invites you stop by. On Tuesdays, it’s all-you-can-eat crab leg night - a nice way to begin your acquaintance. On Wednesdays, enjoy the solo acoustic guitar work of Dave Pollard, from the band Patchwork.

Consider Milepost 5’s private banquet room for groups of 6 to 30. Wedding rehearsal dinners and business meetings appreciate the privacy – and the fine food.

Remember, it’s always “dress casual” at Milepost 5. Don’t bother to change from shorts and T-shirts. And you can forget about reservations, because it’s first-come, first-served at Milepost 5. Pack up the kids and head on over for a great seafood experience in a casual atmosphere that won’t take you to the bank.
